Frequently Asked Questions

What is the financial goal?

The goal is to raise $3 million in current and deferred gifts through 2019.

Why Now?

Our culture is changing significantly. As a Synod, we see this as a kairos moment in our life together. We have an opportunity to use our resources to live into God's future with imagination and energy.

Can gifts be designated?

Individual donors and congregations are welcome to designate gifts toward a specific component of the Campaign. Unrestricted gifts will be used in the 50-40-10 proportion described.

Can I give gifts other than cash?

Gifts of stock and other property, in keeping with the gift and acceptance policy, are welcome. Such gifts can often be good investments in the Campaign, particularly when the asset increases in value.

Can I Make a deferred gift?

Yes. We recognize good stewardship and planning can provide continued, ongoing ministry support, well beyond the span of a campaign. Deferred gifts received after the Campaign has concluded will benefit the same purposes and intents as the Campaign. The most common deferred gift is to include the Southwestern Washington Synod in your will. Further resources for gift planning are available through the ELCA Foundation.
